What is the Off season?
Many people would say it is a time to take off from your chosen sport. Time to rest and relax, enjoy life as simply a student or maybe just spend extra time at a part time job, catch up with friends that maybe you didn't get to see as much during the season. However, there is another way to spend your off season. It is in fact a time a relax, a time to work and a time to catch up.......but it is also an OPPORTUNITY to better yourself as an athlete. Here at Apex we view an athlete's off season as an opporunity to get bigger, stronger, faster and grow mentally. Here we assess weakness and make it stronger, correct imbalances, teach proper movement and push to get the most out of each training day. The off season is when you make your biggest gains physically and mentally over your opponents but also your peers, moving your way up the depth chart or simply creating seperation from others at your played position. It is important to gain an edge in performance but also a chance to make yourself a more durable athlete. We can help this by improving strength, coordination, balance and flexibility and we do so each training session. You can't play if you're not healthy, PROPER training is a great way to help prevent injury.
We offer Strength classes 3 days per week: M,W,F 4:30 Pm Male/Female athletes for all sports
The class is focused to build a baseline of proper movement and increased strength across the board. We do compound lifts that help build the total body and primarily focus on the posterior chain (glutes, hams, low back). While most athletes are obsessed with the front of their bodies because that is what they see in the mirror, what muscles accelerate your body forward? That would be the posterior muscles. We also help develop total body athleticism with a series of gymnastics strength movements and explosive jumps. (Our athletes learn to move with barbells, kettlebells, dumb bells and bands and chains....no machines here). Apex atheltes always have the chance to ask questions and get guidance about proper nutrition and how they should fuel their bodies for sport, life or any particular training session.
Speed/ Agility (1, 2, 3x per week)
We offer speed and agility classes that focus on proper sprinting mechanics and jumping mechanics. Apex athletes learn to move, not only in a straight line but also laterally and how to change direction with precision and explosive power. (No sport is played in a straight line, aside from track). Some tools we use to help develop our athletes are our high speed treadmill, vibration platform, resisted running bands, partner drills, cones, hurdles and boxes. We do much of our change of direction training on our 25 yard base of field turf (cleats can be worn).
For many of our fall sport athletes that have participated in Volleyball, Football, Soccer and Cross Country, their seasons are comming to an end. Many of the athletes who trained at Apex during the summer to prepare, are comming off of their best season yet and have already enrolled in some of the off season packages available.
Your next season......starts now. Get signed up today.
