"In Implementation, it looks like a sport. This is revolutionary. It's as distinctive of the program as are the movements and the charter of functionality and variance. Our workouts are competitive events.
The strength and value of Crossfit lies entirely with in our dominance of other athletes. This is a truth divined through competition, not debate.
3-2-1 GO"
-Coach, on the Crossfit Games
The Great Basin Regional Games will be held on April 18th and 19th, 2009 in Arizona at Crossfit Flagstaff.
There are currently 80 competitor slots - 40 for the men and 40 slots for the women.
Our Region is made up of 4 states - AZ, UT, NV, and NM. There are 33 affiliates in those states and an undetermined number of Garage and Military Crossfitters. We're excited about the opportunity to get together, compete with one another and see some exceptional athletic performances.
This is a qualifying event for the CrossFit World Championships in Aromas California, July 11th and 12th, 2009. We will have 3 qualifying slots for the top men and 3 slots for the top women from our region.
If you want to have a shot at qualifying for the CrossFit Games in Aromas, sign up early for the Regional Games. If you procrastinate, you may not get a spot. We expect registration to sell out in February. The number of spots available is a hard number. Slots will be given out on a first come first served regardless of how amazing an athlete you may be.
For all but 6 incredible performers this will be YOUR Crossfit Games. We're committed to putting on the best event possible. Strict range of motion standards will be set and the judging will be fair and impartial. Crossfit was designed so that anybody can do it. We want to get everyone in our crossfit community involved; you may be 16 (with guardian of course), or 60; you may be a stay at home mom (or dad), a weekend warrior mountain biker or an olympian; for this reason, scaling will be allowed; however, it will take you out of the running for the world championships in Aromas, CA, this still does not mean that you should not be here. Come and compete, this is for you. There will be 2 workouts on the first day and one workout on Sunday. Want a hint as to what the workouts will be? I can guarantee they will be constantly varied, functional movement executed at high intensity.
