Soccer is surely one of the fastest growing sports in the world especially here in the US. In this particular area I would venture to guess it takes 2nd to none in being the most played sport around. Soccer in itself is a very physically demanding sport that requires excellent conditioning, total body coordination, speed, agility and balance. (As seen in the video below)
The athletes in this video are tremendously blessed with their talent levels, and none of them got to where they are by simply playing a lot of soccer. It is very important, yet very overlooked, to understand the impact that speed, agility and proper strength work that have helped these individuals live their dreams of playing at such an elite level and exhibiting such tremendous skill.
Here at Apex we specialize in preparing the athletes for the demands they will see on the field, and helping them excel under such circumstances. We offer speed and agility that will have a direct carry over into an athletes ball handling, ability to make linear runs on the ball and also lateral quickness. As a trainer I have a lot of experience in working with teams and programs from popular local clubs such as La Roca and Strikers and athletes range from elite to recreational, however one thing remains, and that is soccer players continue to have the most need for technique work!!!
Many don't understand how to incorporate proper arm swing and knee drive when forward sprinting because of how much time they spend with a soccer ball. Not that ball handling isn't a very important and irreplaceble skill in soccer, but so is pursuing a marked man when you don't have the ball or making a run to receive the ball. There are also a series of strength movements that can help prevent the frequent knee injuries of female soccer players that will help strengthen the muscles that surround the knee to keep it in proper alignment under direst. Come in and work on technique, effeciency, conditioning and overall explosive power with us this summer! Get ready for the fall! Call in for team or individual training.
