Most of the time for Jr. High and High school athletes the summer is a time to kick back and enjoy not being in school. Staying up later, enjoying friends, going to team training or practice to prepare for the fall, some even spend it working a part time or full time job trying to earn a little spending cash. The summer is a good time full of great memories for most. Not that I am against a good time, because anyone who knows me, knows I love to enjoy myself.
However.....there is another side to the summer for many athletes and dare I say it, the successful ones.
The summer is a time of hard work, sacrafice, comprimise, blood, sweat and tears fighting to better themselves to gain an edge over their teammates and their competitors. We are beginning to see the enrollments start to head our way here at Apex of the next wave of athletes in the Davis county area willing to do what is necessary to seperate themselves from the field, or gain ground on those in front of them. These athletes are the ones not willing to let their "team practice" be enough, not willing to sit on the bench without fighting and scrapping to find a way to get into the game, not willing to be an "All Region Athlete" but to be "All State", not willing to settle for "walking on" their choice of college but to earn a scholarship and get to CHOOSE their college. There is no discrimination with who makes the choice....male, female, soccer, football, basketball, baseball, soccer, LAX, Track even cheer. And while our athletes come from all walks of life and sports choices, they have one thing in common, they are doing what they know they need to do, to be where they want to be.
So......What's your summer looking like? Hope its a fun one.

Oregon’s Owyhee Canyonlands is roadless backcountry, rich in culture, history, geologic diversity and ecological splendor; it should be named a national monument through presidential proclamation.
