If you ask any athlete about their goals prior to any season, most if not all will go on to tell you they want to win the championship of their league or region. The point is every athlete wants to win. If you go on to ask the athlete then what they need to be good at in order to win, most will reply with a fairly in depth answer of what it takes from them as an individual or as a teammate to their peers in order for them to be successful. The next logical question would be then, what are you doing to help yourself or your team achieve those goals or hone those necessary skills to make you better? This is where champions and winners are seperated from those who are just "talking" about it.
One day I was playing Playstation in my room, I was 14 at the time, it was a nice day outside. My Dad walked by and asked me if I had gotten up any shots or played basketball at all today, my reply was "No, that I just really didn't feel like it". He then went on to say, "Well ok, but you know what you have to do to be where you want to be", implying that I knew my goals were to be a D1 athlete of some kind football or basketball and that I knew how good I would need to be in order to make that happen. And let's be real, he was saying put down the controller, get your lazy butt off the couch and go get better. The quote will stick with me forever, because it is very true and seperates successful people from unsuccessful people in all areas of life.

Paul Putnman (closest to camera) knew what he had to do, to be where he wanted to be. Earned him the ability to be a dual sport athlete at Weber State University. Hard work pays off.
