How fast do you go? 34mph is what I train at, in competition I accelerate from 36mph to 57mph during the turns.
How often? 3x week
What do you love about it? There endless ways to improve. I've kind of always been someone who likes speed but this is a different kind of speed. Speed is a big part of it but there are so many technique components plus conditioning and core strength are critical. I'd consider slalom skiing in the top 5 of most difficult sports to master.
Has Crossfit helped: It's helped me tremendously because we focus so much on hip explosiveness and core strength. The same body positioning that's important in Crossfit is the same in SS. Total body strength is extremely important. I don't know of a program that would be more beneficial to me. If you put effort into Crossfit there's not a sport that it wouldn't apply to.
